SJC Celebrates Start of Construction on Flagler Estates Fire Station #21 & Sheriff’s Office

St. Johns County Officials and Residents gathered to celebrate the start of construction on the $3.8 million Fire Station 21 & Sheriff’s Office. This new facility will be located in the Flagler Estates Community and service the surrounding Hastings area.
“This joint facility will improve emergency response times and equip our firefighters and law enforcement officers with the tools they need to effectively do their jobs,” said St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Chair Krista Joseph.
The 6,036 square foot building will provide St. Johns County Fire and Rescue with one and a half apparatus bays and room for four full time personnel.
“For too long, the residents of Flagler Estates have faced challenges in emergency response due to the rural landscape … This project is a direct investment in the wellbeing of our community. It ensures that when anyone calls for help our first responders are close by and equipped to act quickly,” said District 2 Commissioner Sarah Arnold.
After remarks, all five St. Johns County Commissioners, St. Johns County Fire and Rescue Chief Sean McGee, St. Johns County Sheriff Robert Hardwick and Flagler Estates CRA Chair Talisha Anderson participated in the ceremonial groundbreaking.
Passero was the design consultant on the project with Vargco leading construction.
Construction is expected to be completed by end of 2025.
