SJC Student Shadow Program

Shadow Program

Application deadline: March 01, 2024

Mission

Our mission is to empower and engage St. Johns County youth in local government operations, involve them in day-to-day County government processes, and foster civic education in the community.

Program Description

The St. Johns County Student Shadowing Program aims to engage and empower local youth by providing them with firsthand experience in county government operations. The program offers students the opportunity to observe and participate in day-to-day governmental processes, fostering a deeper understanding of civic duties and promoting civic education within the community.

While the schedule is flexible, all shadowing activities occur during the summer months.

Students will have the chance to interact directly with county officials and staff, gaining valuable insight into local governance, ongoing community projects, and key decision-making processes.

Participants will attend a County Commissioner meeting and other important government events, learning how these activities shape the community’s future. Additionally, students will collaborate closely with county administration and various departments, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how the county effectively manages its services and operations.
