About W.E. Harris Community Center

W.E. Harris Community Center provides a central location for the community to gather. The center offers a variety of programs year-round for both adults and children including an afterschool enrichment program and summer program. The center also offers social services to the community through local agencies.

Programs

Programs Available

After School

Monday-Friday (School Days only) afterschool- 6:30 pm

This program is available for 5-12-year-olds as an opportunity for new experiences and hanging out with their friends. Guest speakers, clubs, and activity times are just an example of the opportunities provided.

Basketball Open Gym

Monday – Thursday 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.*

  • This program is open to children ages 13-16 years old.
  • The Youth Center has a staffed employee who watch over the children while they play in the facility.

* Please note that during youth basketball season open gym may be limited due to youth basketball team practices.

Weightlifting
Monday – Thursday 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

History

The W.E. Harris Community Center, the former Hasting Elementary School which closed in 2006, is named after former Hastings resident Walter E. Harris.
