On Monday, Nov. 13, St. Johns County will temporarily close the Fort Matanzas Beach Access Ramp for public safety as crews begin work on the next phase of the FEMA Dune Enhancement Project. The ramp’s closure is anticipated to last about three weeks, weather permitting.

The northern portion of the access ramp parking lot will be open to the public on Sundays and from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday during this portion of the project. It will also be open to the public from Nov. 23 through Nov. 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

For this phase of the FEMA Dune Enhancement Project, St. Johns County selected construction company Phillips & Jordan, Inc. as the lowest, most responsive, and most responsible bidder at a not-to-exceed bid price of $7,435,168.81 with an additional $800,000 for project delivery cost. St. Johns County will receive a FEMA grant reimbursement of $6,176,376.61 and a State of Florida Department of Emergency Management grant reimbursement of $2,058,792.20 after all project phases are complete.
