FDOT: Temporary Closure of State Road 16 West of U.S. 1 Begins May 4

As a part of improvements to the railroad crossing at Ponce De Leon Boulevard, State Road 16 will be closed between Lewis Speedway and Ponce De Leon Boulevard from Saturday, May 4 at 5 a.m. until Tuesday, May 7 at midnight to facilitate safety measures amid construction. The Florida East Coast Railway project will include concrete replacement and resurfacing of the crossing.

Please note that the sidewalk will also be closed during this time. Bicyclists and pedestrians will not be permitted to cross the railroad during the closure. The reopening date and time are subject to change due to unforeseen conditions, including inclement weather.

The following detours will be in place during the closure:

Eastbound State Road 16 at Lewis Speedway:

Eastbound traffic on State Road 16 will detour onto northbound Lewis Speedway, to southbound Ponce De Leon Boulevard (U.S. 1), and back to State Road 16.

Westbound State Road 16 at Ponce De Leon Boulevard:

Westbound traffic on State Road 16 will detour onto northbound Ponce De Leon, Boulevard to southbound Lewis Speedway, then back to State Road 16.
