Commissioner Taylor Welcomes Art in Public Spaces Exhibition

The art program is free to the community.

On April 9, 2025, Commissioner Ann Taylor, District 5, on behalf of the entire St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, welcomed the St. Johns Cultural Council and its selected photographer Bill Boxer for the Art in Public Spaces Exhibition titled “Close to Home.” The exhibition will be displayed until Thursday, June 5, at the Rotunda Gallery in the St. Johns County Administration Building.

Boxer is recognized as a musician and a pianist, and also a lifelong photographer. His journey began in childhood with a Kodak Brownie camera that opened his eyes to a new world of artistic expression. Today, his “Close to Home” exhibition invites the viewer to slow down and rediscover the beauty in everyday life. It does so by exploring various textures, colors, and magical moments that are captured in the quiet, which we often miss in the rush of daily life. These include dewdrops on petals, the wings of a dragonfly, and the delicate unraveling of a flower’s bloom.

The Art in Public Spaces program allows local artists who are chosen by the St. Johns Cultural Council to exhibit their work with new installations several times a year. The exhibitions are free and open to the public on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
