Pavilions

Due to high usage, pavilions are not available for reservation on holidays, or holiday weekends, and remain open on a first come, first served basis.

Event organizers who are non-profit entities must provide proof of exemption from Florida State Sales Tax. After creating your account, please submit a valid DR-14 form via email to beaches@sjcfl.us and do so prior to submitting your reservation request. Failure to receive the DR-14 will necessitate the imposition of sales tax.

Applicants engaging third-party vendors for special event items, such as chairs, tables, tents, event planners, photographers, shuttles, caterers, florists, and temporary structures, must furnish proof of General Liability Insurance. The Certificate of Liability Insurance (COI) should list the St Johns County Board of County Commissioners, located at 500 San Sebastian View, St Augustine, FL 32084, as an additional insured party with a minimum coverage of one million dollars. Refer to the Certificate of Liability Insurance Requirements for all requirements.

    $50.00 plus tax for a 4-hour time slot.

    St. Johns County Residents: $300.00 plus tax for the day.
    Non-Residents: $450.00 plus tax for the day.
  • Promenade at Pier Park
    St. Johns County Residents: $250.00 plus tax for the day.
    Non-Residents: $350.00 plus tax for the day.
  • Volleyball Courts at Pier Pavilion
    St. Johns County Residents: $15.00 plus tax for 2 courts per hour.
    Non-County Residents $25.00 plus tax for 2 courts per hour.
  • Vilano Fishing Pier Pavilion
    St. Johns County Resident Fee: $75 plus tax per day
    Non-County Resident Fee: $100 plus tax per day

South Ponte Vedra Recreation Area

A great place to share a meal or get together under the covered picnic area overlooking the beautiful coquina landscape.

Location: 2.25 miles south of the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve on Highway A1A. Map

Hours: Dawn to Dusk.

Facilities: Limited off-beach parking, restrooms, covered picnic table, stairs to beach. Pavilion may be reserved for picnics or events.

Fees: $50.00 plus tax for a 4-hour time slot. Please note, fees are nonrefundable.

North Beach Park Pavilion

Sunbathing and fishing are popular activities on this coquina type beach.

Location: 3721 Coastal Highway, St. Augustine. Take Vilano Bridge over the intracoastal, go North on A1A, at 2nd highway walkover turn left into park.

Hours: Dawn to Dusk.

Facilities: Restrooms, showers, highway walkover, off-beach parking, grills, playground, and picnic pavilion. Pavilion may be reserved for picnics or events.

Fees: $50.00 plus tax for a 4-hour time slot. Please note, fees are nonrefundable.

Surf Side Park

A popular spot for sunbathing, fishing, horseback riding and 4×4 driving.

Location: One half mile north of the Vilano vehicular access ramp on Highway A1A. 11 Surfside Ave. St. Augustine FL 32084

Facilities: Offers newly renovated restrooms, dune walkover, showers, and picnic tables. Pavilion may be reserved for picnics or events.

Hours: Dawn to Dusk.

Fees: $50.00 plus tax for a 4-hour time slot. Please note, fees are nonrefundable.

Other information: Horseback riding is allowed north of the Surfside access ramp year-round with a beach riding permit, and beach driving/parking is allowed with a special beach use permit.

Frank B. Butler Park East

Frank B. Butler hosted Martin Luther King, Jr. and associates in his motel in 1964 during a widely publicized civil rights visit to St. Augustine. In 1980, the State of Florida turned over management of the park to St. Johns County. The environmentally sensitive dune system is home to the native Anastasia Island Beach Mice and gopher tortoises.

Location: On Anastasia Island two miles south of St. Augustine Beach at Minnie Street St. Augustine FL 32080.

Hours: Dawn to Dusk.

Facilities: Restrooms, off-beach parking, dune walkover, picnic tables and showers. There are two separate pavilions, each holding approximately 32 people. Pavilions may be reserved for picnics or private events.

Fees: $50.00 plus tax for a 4-hour time slot. Please note, fees are nonrefundable.

Crescent Beach Pavilion

The natural profile of the coastline gives this beach its name. There is minimal vehicular beach driving/parking.

Location: On Anastasia Island, three miles south of St. Augustine Beach at 6930 A1A South, St. Augustine

Hours: Dawn to Dusk.

Facilities: Restrooms, dune walkover, covered picnic tables, and showers. Seasonal lifeguards. Pavilion may be reserved for picnics or private events.

Fees: $50.00 plus tax for a 4-hour time slot. Please note, fees are nonrefundable.

Other information: Vehicular beach access is available at Cubbedge Rd. Vehicular access is dependent on beach conditions — weather, sand, or tides may cause ramps to temporarily close or limit access to 4 Wheel Drive vehicles. From March 1 through September 30, vehicles are required to pay a vehicle access toll and obtain a beach pass. Daily and annual beach passes may be purchased at access ramps. Daily driving conditions are posted to our Facebook and X accounts (follow SJC Beaches), and in the Reach the Beach Mobile App.

St. Johns County Pier Pavilion

The Pier pavilion is a great location for large public events.

Location: On Anastasia Island, about 5 miles from downtown St Augustine, at 350 A1A Beach Blvd. At. Augustine FL 32080.

Facilities: The pier pavilion is 84′ x 84′ (4,200 square feet), holds approximately 200 people, and is handicapped accessible. Tables and chairs are not provided, but rentals may be brought in. There are restrooms, beach and pier access, splash park, and volleyball courts (may also be reserved).

Fees:

    St Johns County Residents: $300.00 plus tax for the day.
    Non-Residents: $450.00 plus tax for the day.
  • Promenade at Pier Park
    St Johns County Residents: $250.00 plus tax for the day.
    Non-Residents: $350.00 plus tax for the day.

Vilano Beach Pavilion

Vilano beach is a popular spot for fishing, sunbathing, and surfing.

Location: 2 miles north of downtown St. Augustine, on Highway A1A, just over the Vilano Bridge at the end of Vilano Rd. 2752 Anahma Drive, St. Augustine FL 32084

Hours: Dawn to Dusk.

Facilities: Restrooms, dune walkover, and showers. Pavilion holds approximately 30-40 people. Tables and chairs are not provided, but rentals may be brought in.

Fees: $50.00 plus tax for a 4-hour time slot. Please note, fees are nonrefundable.

What times are the beachside pavilions available for use?

Park hours are from dawn until dusk. Overnight parking/camping is prohibited.

Do you rent tables and chairs?

No. You will need to go through a third party to rent tables and chairs for your event. Please note, event items must be delivered and picked up on the day of your event. If the items are delivered or picked up on a day other than the event date, you may incur additional fines/fees. St. Johns County is not responsible or liable for event items left overnight. All wedding planners and couples utilizing third party vendors (for special event items including but not limited to: chairs, tables, tents, photographers, shuttles, caterers, florists, and temporary structures) are required to provide proof of General Liability Insurance.

When do I need to provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance (COI)?

All applicants of public events and private sporting events must provide proof of General Liability Insurance.

All wedding planners and couples utilizing third party vendors (for special event items including but not limited to: chairs, tables, tents, photographers, shuttles, caterers, florists, and temporary structures) are also required to provide proof of General Liability Insurance.

If you are planning on serving alcohol at your event, a Certificate of Liability Insurance (COI) with an alcohol policy is required.

The Certificate of Liability Insurance (COI) must name St Johns County Board of County Commissioners at 500 San Sebastian View, St Augustine, FL 32084 as additionally insured for no less than one million dollars. Please see the Certificate of Liability Insurance Requirements for all requirements.

Can I reserve the St Johns County Pier Pavilion for a couple hours at a discounted fee?

No. The fee to reserve the St Johns County Pier Pavilion is for the entire day. The fees for the Pier Pavilion remain the same whether you use the facilities for a few hours or for the entire day.

Will alcohol be allowed in the parks during our event?

Yes. You can have alcohol at events if you have the appropriate insurance and permits. To serve alcohol at an event, you must provide a Certificate of Liability (Certificate of Liability Insurance Requirements), and it must include an alcohol policy. To sell alcohol, you must have a temporary license in addition to the Certificate of Liability Insurance. Please visit Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation for more information. Possession of alcoholic beverages and glass is prohibited on the beach.

Can we do a balloon release during our event?

No. St. Johns County Ordinance 2022-6 prohibits the release of helium, foil, mylar, biodegradable or photodegradable balloons and sky lanterns into the atmosphere. Their release is very impactful on the environment because the balloons inevitably deflate or the sky lanterns land creating litter and possibly causing animals to ingest or become entrapped.

Can I reserve the volleyball courts at the St Johns County Pier Pavilion?

Yes. Volleyball court reservations can be made through our Online Reservation System. The courts are reserved in pairs per hour. The fee to reserve the courts for St. Johns County Residents is $15.00 plus tax for 2 courts per hour. The fee for non-County Residents is $25.00 plus tax for 2 courts per hour. Please note, fees are nonrefundable.

Can I grill at the parks?

Yes. Some parks have charcoal grills available for use. Please take the coals away to dispose. You may also bring your own grills to use. It is prohibited for any person to dispose of coal, briquettes, embers or other heated objects on the beach or in trash receptacles. Any and all fires and associated debris must be self-contained and removed in the same manner in which they arrived.
