St. Johns County Recognizes April 27, 2024 as American Legion Family Day

At the April 16, 2024, St. Johns County Board of County Commission Regular Meeting, Commissioner Christian Whitehurst, District 1, issued a proclamation recognizing the last Saturday of April as American Legion Family Day. Representatives from American Legion Auxiliary attended the meeting to receive the proclamation.

The National Executive Committee of the American Legion passed Resolution 7 – American Legion Family Day to be observed annually on the last Saturday of April. The goal of this day is to educate the community on their new initiative “Be the One” to bring awareness to veteran suicide and destigmatize the courageous decision to seek mental health.

The American Legion Family continues to be steadfast in its commitment to these principles, which allow it to meet the ever-expanding needs of its local communities throughout the Nation.

The American Legion urges all members of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, the American Legion Riders, and the Sons of the American Legion, known collectively as the American Legion Family, to open their home doors to observe Saturday, April 27th, 2024 as American Legion Family Day, with emphasis on “Be the One”.
