Summer Haven River Study
INTERA-GEC has been tasked by St. Johns County to develop a list of environmentally and financially sustainable long-term solutions to maintain and stabilize the Summer Haven shoreline and flow of the river.
For each potential feasible solution, INTERA has been directed by St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners to remain focused on, but not limited to, public benefits, extent of property protection, constructability, and probable costs and potential funding sources.
At the December 19, 2023 Board of County Commissioners meeting, SJC Coastal Management and Intera-GEC presented the findings of the Summer Haven River and Summerhouse study. The finalized version of the report can be viewed by clicking below:
USACE Intracoastal Dredging
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) awarded a maintenance dredging contract to Southwinds Construction, for the removal of material from the navigable channel of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). This beach-compatible material will then be used on Summer Haven Beach in efforts to close the breach and build up the beach. This project is complete and the Contractor has demobilized as of March 2024.
