Commissioner Arnold Presents Proclamation for Mental Health Awareness Month

During the April 15, 2025, St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, Commissioner Sarah Arnold, District 2, presented a proclamation to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month. It was presented to Lisa Taliaferro, Founder and President of Patients Not Prisoners.
Here is the Proclamation:
WHEREAS, mental health sustains an individual’s thought processes, relationships, and productivity, and community understanding and available support services can greatly impact a person’s ability to handle stress, move forward, and live fulfilling lives; and
WHEREAS, each business, school, government agency, healthcare provider, faith-based organization, non-profit agency, and citizen shares accountability for the community’s mental health needs and has a responsibility to promote mental wellness and support prevention efforts; and
WHEREAS, St. Johns County remains engaged in their promise to address the challenges facing people with mental illness; and
WHEREAS, Mental Health Awareness Month is an opportunity to increase public understanding of the importance of mental health, to promote mental health and wellness leading to higher overall productivity, better educational outcomes, lower crime rates, stronger economies, lower health care costs, improved family life, improved quality of life and increased lifespan; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida, that the month of May 2025 be designated as
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida, this 15th day of April 2025.
