Commissioner Taylor Presents Proclamation for Water Conservation Month

During the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners meeting on April 1, 2025, Commissioner Ann Taylor, District 5, presented a proclamation to announce that April 2025 will be designated as Water Conservation Month. The proclamation was presented to Neal Shinkre, Utility Director and Douglas Conkey, Intergovernmental Coordinator for the St. Johns River Water Management District.
The following is the proclamation that was presented:
WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Water Management Districts, and St. Johns County are working together to increase awareness about the importance of water conservation; and
WHEREAS, April, typically a dry month when water demands are most acute, has been designated as Florida’s Water Conservation Month, to educate citizens on how they can help save Florida’s precious water resources; and
WHEREAS, for the 27th year of recognizing Water Conservation Month, there will be a special focus on irrigation system evaluations in Florida, calling upon each citizen to help protect our precious resources by practicing water saving measures and becoming more aware of the need to save water; and
WHEREAS, irrigation design, programming, and maintenance can conserve water, St. Johns County encourages citizens to evaluate their irrigation systems for potential efficiency enhancements; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida, that the month of April 2025, be designated as:
WATER CONSERVATION MONTH
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of St. Johns County, Florida this 1st day of April 2025.
