ADA-Compliant Access Ramp and Additional Parking to Be Installed at Crescent Beachfront Park

A new ADA-accessible beach ramp and additional parking will be constructed at Crescent Beachfront Park (6930 A1A South). The project’s construction contract was approved by the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners at its regular meeting on Feb. 4.

The ramp will be nearly 200 feet long, wheelchair accessible, and will reduce foot traffic on the vehicular ramp, improving safety. The new parking area will add 28 additional spaces and refreshed landscaping, as well as a concrete sidewalk connector between the parking lot and the new beach access ramp. The Parks and Recreation Department hopes to see a level of improvement similar to that brought about in the renovation of Vilano Beach Oceanfront Park.

“I’m really excited about this project and the accessibility it will provide the residents and visitors of St. Johns County so they can enjoy our beautiful beaches,” Board of County Commissioners Chair Krista Joseph said.

$700,000 is budgeted for the project’s design and construction. Work is estimated to begin in Spring 2025 and be completed by Summer 2025.
