At the October 1, 2024 St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, Commissioner Krista Joseph, District 4, presented a proclamation to representatives from Betty Griffin Center recognizing October 2024 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Domestic violence remains a prevalent issue across St. Johns County, the State of Florida, the United States, and the world with implications for both personal and community health and safety. All persons have a basic right to feel safe, especially in their homes, yet more than 1,000 domestic violence-related law enforcement reports were filed and four domestic violence-related homicides happened in St. Johns County last year.
