St. Johns County Issues Local State of Emergency Ahead of Helene

Emergency Management Citizen Information Hotline Now Open.

St. Johns County issued a local state of emergency, effective 8 a.m. today, in advance of potential storm conditions due to Helene. This mirrors the declaration of a state of emergency issued by Gov. Ron DeSantis. A declaration of a state of emergency aids in the response, recovery, and operations necessary to cope with the emergency. The St. Johns County Emergency Management Citizen Information Hotline (904-824-5550) is now open to help answer the public’s questions about Helene. The Citizen Information Hotline will remain open until 5 p.m. today and will reopen at 8 a.m. tomorrow.

As part of the declaration of the local state of emergency, the St. Johns County Emergency Operations Center moved into Level 2 activation. Level 3 is the lowest level of activation, with Level 1 being the highest.
