St. Johns County Recognized May 19 – 25, 2024 as Public Works Week

At the May 21, 2024, St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting, Commissioner Roy Alaimo, District 3, issued a proclamation recognizing May 19 – 25, 2024 as Public Works Week. Representatives from St. Johns County Public Works Department attended the meeting to receive the proclamation.

Public works professionals play a crucial role in maintaining the infrastructure, facilities, and services that are essential for sustainable and resilient communities, as well as for the public health, high quality of life, and well-being of the people of St. Johns County.

“Our people are our greatest resource,” said Greg Caldwell, Public Works Director.

These dedicated individuals, including engineers, managers, supervisors, and employees from both governmental and private sectors, are responsible for building, improving, maintaining, and protecting various systems such as transportation, stormwater management, water supply, water treatment, solid waste management, public buildings, and other vital structures and assets necessary for our citizens.

This year, the theme “Advancing Quality of Life For All” underscores the contributions of our public works professionals, acknowledging their efforts in safeguarding national health, safety, and enhancing the overall quality of life for everyone.
