The Real Estate Division is responsible for acquisition of all property, including easement rights, for the County, including Constitutional Officers. These may include transportation, drainage, utilities, parks, library, fire stations, and other county facilities. Staff acquires property utilizing various channels including dedication, condemnation, gift, exchange, purchase of fee simple, and purchase of easement.

Each solicitation has specific requirements which suppliers must meet in order to be eligible to submit a response. These requirements are specified in the documents pertaining to each solicitation. Interested parties must obtain the solicitation documents in order to review the requirements.

The Family Integrity Program offers the services needed to adopt a special needs child who is in the State of Florida’s permanent custody. Not every child that comes into care is available for adoption, though those that are currently available can be found here: www.adoptflorida.org

The St. Johns County Affordable Housing Grant Program provides grants to eligible organizations to fund a wide range of activities to create affordable housing for very low, low, and moderate income residents of St. Johns County.

The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) reviews established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations and adopted local government comprehensive plan to recommend specific action or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value.

St. Johns County Parks and Recreation offers after school enrichment programs to bring a wide range of benefits to our youth, families and community. After school programs can boost academic performance, reduce risky behaviors, promote physical health, and provide a safe, structured environment for the children of working parents.

Advance warning is the most powerful preparedness tool for severe weather. Every family should have multiple methods for receiving severe weather alerts, including at least one with an audible alert to wake you in the middle of the night if necessary.

Our main goals and responsibilities are to return lost pets to their owners and adopt animals that don’t have a home.

Commissioner Henry Dean, a long-standing St. Johns County resident, began an extensive career in government and politics shortly after receiving his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Iowa in 1970 and his Juris Doctor from Florida State University in 1974.

Applications for employment must be made online, through our Government Jobs Online portal. The Human Resources Department has two computer kiosks for use when applying for vacant positions.

Each appointed board and committee has a specific mission and is governed by St. Johns County and State of Florida statutes.

Not every death falls under the jurisdiction of the Medical Examiner’s Office. If a decedent has died from apparent natural causes and has an attending (or treating) physician, the physician is expected to certify the decedent’s death.

The Bald Eagle is the national emblem of the Unites States and has long been a spiritual symbol for Native Americans. Its name is derived from the white feathered head that contrasts with its brown body and wings. The adult white head and tail plumage does not fully emerge until about 5 years of age. Juveniles have mostly brown heads and tails along with brown body and wings that may also be mottled with white.

From dune walkovers, driving beaches and the beach accessible wheelchair program, there are a variety of ways to access and enjoy St. John’s County’s coastline.

Annual Beach Driving Passes are not required from October to February.

Beach conditions are subject to change. Driving access updates are posted as necessary and may be updated several times in a day or not at all for days if conditions remain unchanged. Beachside pavilion reservations can be made through our Online Reservation System. Please note, fees are nonrefundable. Due to high usage, pavilions are not available for reservation on holidays, or holiday weekends, and remain open on a first come, first served basis.

Fire & Marine Rescue

SJC beach visitors are able to enjoy a wide range of activities. While at the beach, please be considerate of the environment, the animals that live there, and other beach goers. It will help ensure the beaches are a joy both now and for years to come.

Marine Rescue personnel provide lifeguard coverage along several miles of coastline from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend from the hours of 10:00am until 6:00pm weather permitting.

Beach Shuttle Service

The Family Integrity Program is proud to be the only provider of Foster Care services for St. Johns County. We are the only agency in the county that recruits, licenses, services, and maintains Family Foster Homes for our county’s children.

St. Johns County has 15 Boat ramps spread throughout the county that allow boaters to enjoy both salt and freshwater access free of charge. For more information call (904) 209-0328.
