2017 Anticipated Board and Committee Vacancies

Adjustment and Appeals Board
Purpose: To hear requests for code interpretation and cases for Unsafe Building Abatement Codes.

  • March – Insurance Industry

In 2017, the Adjustment & Appeals Board will be put before the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners to reset term limits from two (2) years to four (4) years. Therefore, all seats will be open for applications.

Architectural Review Committee
Purpose: The ARC is charged with determining compliance with the Development Standards & Criteria of Section VIII.Q.5.d Architectural Design Standards and Section VIII.Q.5.e, Design Elements & Materials.

Arts, Cultural, and Heritage Funding Panel
Purpose: The Funding Panel is an advisory committee to the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners. Its charge is to evaluate and rank funding application in accordance with the approved funding guideline as enumerated by the mission and goals established by the Tourist Development Council and in accordance with Chapter 125.0104, Florida Statues.

  • September – (2) Arts/Culture/Heritage – Tourism
  • September – Alternate Member - Arts/Culture/Heritage – Tourism

In 2017, the Arts, Cultural, and Heritage Funding Panel will be put before the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners to reset term limits from two (2) years to four (4) years. Therefore, all seats will be open for applications.

Cultural Resource Review Board
Purpose: Advise the Board of County Commissioners regarding cultural, architectural, archaeological, and historical resources of St. Johns County; and to identify, evaluate, document, designate, and protect these resources.

  • May – Demonstrated Interest

In 2017, the Cultural Resource Review Board will be put before the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners to reset term limits from two (2) years to four (4) years. Therefore, all seats will be open for applications.

Health and Human Services Advisory Council
Purpose: This Council evaluates human services programs in the community, assists in determining the effectiveness of programs, reduces duplication of services and assures the health and human services needs of the residents of St. Johns County are met. They review applications requesting county funding for programs that provide health, mental health, substance abuse and social services and submit recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.

Housing Finance Authority
Purpose: Increase the supply of affordable housing opportunities through tax-exempt and taxable bonds and other available program resources.

  • June – Finance Representative can be in fields of commerce, labor or finance
  • November – Labor Representative can be in fields of commerce, labor or finance

In 2017, the Housing Finance Authority will be put before the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners to reset term limits from two (2) years to four (4) years. Therefore, all seats will be open for applications.

Library Advisory Board
Purpose: An advisory committee created to advise the County on the establishment, operation and maintenance of free public library service within St. Johns County.

  • September – District 2 Representative

Mid-Anastasia Design Review Board
Purpose: The purpose of the Mid-Anastasia Design Review Board is to determine compliance with Part 3.08.00 Mid-Anastasia Overlay District of the St. Johns County Land Development Code, Ordinance 99-51, as amended.

  • December – Overlay Resident

North Coastal Corridor Overlay District Design Review Board
Purpose: The purpose of the North Coastal Corridor Overlay District Design Review Board is to determine compliance with Part 3.09.00 North Coastal Overlay District and Part 3.10.00 Vilano Beach Town Center Overlay of the St. Johns County Land Development Code, Ordinance 99-5l, as amended.

NW Communication Tower Advisory Board
Purpose: The purpose of the Northwest Communication Tower Advisory Board is to Review proposals for expenditure of income derived from the lease of Mills Field property.

  • December – Athletic Association Representative

In 2017, the Northwest Communication Tower Advisory Board will be put before the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners to reset term limits from two (2) years to four (4) years. Therefore, all seats will be open for applications.

Planning and Zoning Board
Purpose: An advisory board and recommending body to the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners on matters relating to zoning of land, amendment of Land Development Regulations, Land Use amendments and Major Modifications to Planned Unit Developments and Planned Rural Developments.

  • January – District 2 Member (SJC Resident)
  • January – District 5 Member (SJC Resident)

Recreation Advisory Board
Purpose: An advisory committee that provides a sounding board for new ideas, assist in solving problems, act as liaison when called upon to other governmental bodies, represent the Recreation and Parks Department’s posture on sensitive issues in the public arena and to assist in the establishment and carrying out of goals and objectives and budget preparation to provide leisure time programs and facilities.

  • November – District 5 Representative

South Anastasia Design Review Board
Purpose: The purpose of the South Anastasia Design Review Board is to determine compliance with Part 3.07.00 South Anastasia Overlay of the St. Johns County Land Development Code, Ordinance 99-51, as amended.

  • January – Overlay Resident

Tourist Development Council
Purpose: Recommend funding of facilities, programs, or contracts which are primarily for the purpose of and related to the development, advancement, furtherance, improvement, or promotion of tourism.

  • August – (2) Non-Accommodation Tourism Related Representative
